The Habit I’ve Kept for 10+ Years (No Matter What)

You’d probably never guess the one habit I’ve stuck with every single day for over a decade.

It’s not a trendy workout.
It’s not a fancy supplement.
It’s not cutting out carbs or eating “clean” 100% of the time.

It’s tracking my food.

Yep. Every single day—for more than 10 years.

And before you assume I’m obsessed with calories or trying to eat perfectly all the time…
Let me explain why this habit is nothing like what most people think.

Why I Track—And Why It’s Not What You Think

I don’t track because I’m afraid of gaining weight.

I don’t do it because I’m trying to follow some extreme diet.

And I definitely don’t do it to avoid dessert, pizza, or margaritas.

I do it because it gives me freedom.

Sounds strange, right?

But here’s what most people don’t realize:
When you know what your body needs, you’re free to eat how you want—without the guilt, the overthinking, or the “I’ll start again Monday” spiral.

How Tracking Gives You Freedom (Not Control)

Once you understand how much fuel your body needs, you get to make choices without second-guessing.

If I want to fast all day and have one big meal that includes dessert (and maybe a drink)? I can.

If I’m craving pancakes, I don’t panic—I just make it fit.

There’s no restriction.
No mental drama.
No guilt.

Just clarity.

That’s the real magic of food tracking.
It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being aware.

What Most People Get Wrong

Most people think tracking your food is obsessive.
Or stressful.
Or exhausting.

But that only happens when you treat it like a punishment.

When you stop trying to be perfect—and start using tracking as a tool—it becomes a source of peace.

You stop:

  • Skipping meals out of fear

  • Avoiding carbs like they’re evil

  • Stressing over what to order at dinner

And instead, you just know what your body needs—and give it that.

It’s not about eating less.
It’s about eating smarter.

Want to Start? Here’s What I’d Recommend

Don’t overcomplicate it.
Don’t aim for perfection.

Just start.

Track what you eat—not to be “good,” but to learn.

Because once you build that awareness, everything becomes easier:

  • You’ll know how to eat out without blowing your goals

  • You’ll stop fearing certain foods

  • You’ll feel more in control of your results

This one habit has helped me maintain my shape, energy, and confidence through every phase of life.

And it can do the same for you.
